Mourners arriving for Specter funeral in Penn Valley

With a crowd of more than one thousand expected to attend funeral services for Sen. Arlen Specter, Lower Merion police have posted parking restrictions on side streets near Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley. Some road closures are expected later this morning. Many people are arriving more than two hours early for the noon ceremony, which is expected to last about 1 ½ hours. Vice President Joe Biden, Specter’s longtime Senate colleague, will be among the public officials and friends paying their respects to the former senator, who died at 82 on Sunday after battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
